Solar Water Heater Accredited Suppliers / Installers
 The
Solar Industries Association, on behalf of the solar water heating
industry, has introduced an Accreditation system. The scheme is
based on product that comply with the New Zealand standard for product
durability and safety, and suppliers and their installers who meet
the minimum criteria for installation. A list of complying products is given below
The Association makes no comment or guarantee
on individual company products or services. For information on each
system available you should visit their website and make direct
contact.
Accredited for Installation
Suppliers who are accredited for installation have provided
documentation that indicates their experience and competence to
install the named products and their installation practices comply
with the Code of Practice for SWH Manufacture and Installation in New Zealand. An independent SWH Accreditation Administrator has reviewed the material provided and has approved their application. However accreditation offers no guarantee that
suppliers or their Approved Installers meet those requirements. Purchasers should ensure that
their SWH system is installed within the requirements set out in
the Code of Practice available here. The criteria
for accreditation are also available here.
A supplier is only accredited for the named and listed Complying Product and accreditation only applies when the installation is undertaken by their Approved Installers. Accreditation does not cover product that is sold for installation by anyone who is not an Approved Installer. Where installation is custom built by connection of collector, pump and controller to an existing hot water cylinder the solar system components must be named and listed Complying Product.
Agents, distributors and Approved installers listed
under the accredited supplier's name have not been individually
accredited. These parties operate under the named Accredited
Supplier's training and quality systems and for the purposes of
accreditation are considered as installers only for the Accredited
Supplier.

Complying Product
Product that has been tested and meets the manufacturing
standards with regard to durability and safety are listed below.
Product relates to a full system including collector, pump, controllers and tank. The individual items must be identified and are referred to as packaged. The standard allows components from a packaged system to be used in a custom built appliction such as connection to an existing hot water cylinder or where a collector is inseted into a roof.
